Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Sure, movie night can be for snuggling with chocolate and popcorn, but it can also be about arguing over whodunnit. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is light-hearted (which already makes it a better date movie than A Quiet Place) and stars Daniel Craig and Kate Hudson. 

The plot’s constant twists and turns will keep you both guessing, and placing bets on who the killer is right until the great reveal. 

I Love You, Man 

This 2009 classic has perhaps the world’s sexiest and nicest man (Paul Rudd) in a bromance with Jason Segel. Chances are you’ve seen this already, and what better movie to cuddle up to your beau with than one you don’t have to pay too much attention to? 

That’s right: one with Paul Rudd. 

Bust out the popcorn and settle in for a funny, easygoing movie that’ll make you both feel warm and fuzzy. 

The Big Sick 

Another classic on this list, The Big Sick was inspired by real life events. Although the subject matter is serious, this movie has plenty of laughs and a great message about embracing new cultures (and bonding with your partner’s family). 

The Photograph 

If you want your movie night to sizzle a little more than usual, and maybe want to bring a little of that heat off-screen, too, then The Photograph has got your back. 

This charming storyline, combined with the incredible chemistry between Issa Rae and LaKeith Stanfield, is bound to get you feeling a crackle in the air. 

Deadpool 

OK, hear us out. Deep at its heart, Deadpool is really a love story. 

Don’t discount the deep connection between Wade and Vanessa, the romance that comes with doing anything for the one you love, and the heartache intimacy of not missing the opportunity to tell someone you’re into them.

You’ll probably already know if this one is right for you or not, but if the evening calls for a fun movie with plenty of (very adult) laughs, then we say don’t sleep on this one – even if you’re not into superheroes.

All of Us Strangers 

If you can’t cuddle up with your beau and cry over a beautiful love story every now and again, then who can you do it with? 

Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal star in one of the most touching queer love stories we’ve seen in a while. And even if the story doesn’t keep you on the edge of your seat, those shirtless scenes will. 

Love, Simon 

Is there anything we need to say about this gorgeous little story about love and acceptance? Love, Simon is the perfect date night movie – snuggle up, get hit in the feels, and come away knowing that no matter what, everything will work out in the end. 

This movie is an absolute classic, and should be on the shortlist for anyone’s stay-at-home movie date night. Just don’t forget the tissues, because in our experience there might be tears. 

Duck Butter 

Honesty should be at the heart of every relationship, don’t you think? In Duck Butter two women embark on a 24-hour experiment to see if they can have a completely honest relationship. 

This movie is sexy, steamy, and funny, and will definitely bring something new to your date night. 

Blue is the Warmest Color 

A romance about young love, embracing your identity, heartbreak, and the power of love. Blue is the Warmest Color is an award-winning film that will give you a date night to remember.
